Cold wave kills five in Terai region of Nepal

Kathmandu, Jan 2 (UNI) At least five people have died due to the cold wave in the last few days in the Terai region of Nepal, bordering northern India.

Five people including four women died in Siraha district in eastern Terai due to the increasing cold wave for the last few days, local media reported today.

Heavy fog and very cold weather has created difficulties for the people and the markets are almost deserted from early morning till late evening, media report said.

Students attendance has dropped drastically in the schools and the elderly are compelled to stay inside the house.

People are seen burning logs in the public places and outside houses in the Terai areas.
