Civil society members arrested
Kathmandu, Jan 2 (UNI) More than three dozen civil society members participating in a sit-in protest outside the Singha Durbar here, flaying the government for failing to publicise the findings of the Rayamajhi probe commission, were arrested by the police this morning.
Demanding immediate issuance of the interim statute, civil society members today staged a sit-in at the south gate of the Singha Durbar, the main administrative seat of Nepal.
During the sit-in participants flayed the government for failing to publicise the findings of the Rayamajhi probe commission set up to recommend actions against the supressors of the April pro-democracy movements.
They also protested yesterday's manhandling and arrest of the society members.
Police arrested 63 activists yesterday from a sit-in protest in front the Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's residence at Baluwatar.
