Church elder demands enquiry into SSA fund scam
Aizawl, Jan 2: The 'Kohhran Upa' (church elder) in Mizoram today demanded an immediate enquiry into the Rs 14 lakhs fund scam under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
According to Upa, about Rs 14 lakhs of Rs 21 lakhs, which had been drawn in favour of Gilzom Press, a printing press here, to print books on '20 Day In-Service Training Package' for the SSA Mizoram, had been misutilised.
''Only Rs 7 lakhs was paid to the press while the cheque was of Rs 21 lakhs,'' Upa sources alleged.
They have alleged that Mr Vanlalhruaia, a government employee and elder of Zarkawt Presbyterian Church, had made the deal on behalf of government.
Mr Vanlalhruaia, brother of Chief Minister Zoramthanga's finance adviser Lalhuapzauva, was in-charge of the book printing, despite he being a government employee.
