820 candidates shortlisted for IIM-A's GD-PI tests

Ahmedabad, Jan 2 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad today said it has shortlisted 820 candidates, for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews, as part of its admission procedure to its flagship Post Graduate programme in Management.

The shortlisting has been done on the basis of Common Admission Test scores conducted by six IIMs in November last year. The CAT results were declared earlier today.

''For 280 seats, the IIM-A has called 820 candidates for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI),'' said the institute's spokesperson Ashok Shah.

The GD/PI will be held from February 16 to March 23, he said. The final admission list of candidates is expected to be out by April-end.

Of the 820 shortlisted, 608 belong to general category, 55 to OBC, 123 to SC, 20 to ST and 14 to PWD.

A total of 1.9 lakh students had appeared for the CAT, considered the one of the toughest among MBA entrance examinations and consists of three segments --Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Ability and Quantitative Ability.

The IIM-A has called those candidates in general category whose percentile in each section was above 95.33 and who have overall percentile above 98.3 for the GD and PI. In the OBC category, candidates whose percentile in section one and three was above 90 and overall, above 98.3 have been called.

For the SC candidates, the cut-off was above 65 in section one and three and overall percentile 85.3.

The scores can be accessed by logging on to IIM's official website.

The other five IIMS will announce their list separately.
