A series of rallies, 'yatras' and meetings have been announced by the parties starting this week. The new year is likely to be the most eventful as far as the political scenario for UP is concerned.

Ruling Samjawadi Party, Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have chalked out their political strategies ahead of the assembly polls.

The Mulayam Singh Yadav-led SP has taken a lead in this regard as the party has announced to observe 'Black Day' on January 4 to protest the hanging of toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
