Six killed in Karnataka

Bangalore, Jan 1 (UNI) The New Year bashes have claimed six lives and left 28 others injured in Karnataka during last 24 hours.

While five people were killed and 26 others injured in three different road mishaps in Mysore, one person was stabbed to death and one died in road mishap in Bangalore early hours today.

According to a report, two people were killed 26 others injured, when a Maxi Cab, in which they were traveling, collided with a tractor near Bherya in K R Nagara Taluk in the district.

The injured were shifted to government hospital in K R Nagara here.

The victims were returning after performing pooja at Adichunchanagiri temple when the mishap occurred.

Meanwhile, in another incident one person was killed and two others injured when two motorcycle collided head on in the city.

While the victim Prabhakar died in the hospital, Santosh Kumar and Mahesh are battling for life.

Yet, in another incident, a 26-year-old youth, a contract worker in Infosys, was killed on the spot when his two wheeler dashed with a lorry on Mysore-Bangalore highway.

The youth was returning home after New Year bash. The lorry driver is absconding.

In the city, a 20-year-old youth was stabbed to death for advising to a group of youth not to tease a Nepali girl during celebration of New Year arrival in the wee hours.
