Senior Congress leader shot by nephew

Sultanpur, Jan 1 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Ram Shabd Mishra was allegedly shot at by his nephew in this district today.

Police said the incident took place in Pyagipur under Kotwali police station area, where senior Congress leader and former Block Pramukh Ram Shabd Mishra was shot at by his nephew Shiromani.

The brutally injured was rushed to hospital, where he was sent to Lucknow for treatment.

The incident occured when Mr Mishra asked his kin not to fire in the air as part of the New Year celebrations.

The accused have been arrested.
