Saddam execution meets strong protest by Muslims

Mathura, UP, Jan 1 (UNI) Muslims today held an agitation in this district to protest the execution of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Police said after offering Idu'l Zuha 'namaz', Muslims took to the streets and shouted anti-Bush slogans near Govindnagar police chowki. They executed an effigy of the United States (US) President George W Bush to protest the execution of Saddam, who was executed in Iraq on December 31 on charge of ''crime against humanity''.

They said Saddam became a victim of Mr Bush's bullishness. The mob also prayed for the departed soul.

Meanwhile, Congress activists, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh took to streets and burnt the effigy of the US President.
