Lt Gen Panag takes over as chief of northern command

Jammu, Jan 1 (UNI) Lt-Gen H S Panag today assumed charge as general officer commanding-in-chief, northern command, based in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir.

Lt-Gen Panag, who was GOC of strike corps at Bhopal, has replaced Lt-Gen Deepak Kapoor, who has been appointed as vice chief of army staff at New Delhi, official sources said.

Lt-Gen Panag, a master degree holder of science in defence studies, is an alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA) and was commissioned in December 1968.
