Indore police to follow 'Gandhigiri'

Indore, Jan 1 (UNI) Motivated by the popular film ''Lage Raho Munna Bhai'', Indore police have planned to go the 'Gandhigiri' way by presenting roses to people caught breaking traffic rules.

The violators will be identified and presented rose during the Road Safety fortnight beginning today.

Indore Zone Inspector General of Police Rajendra Kumar said the gesture was to send across the message with an appeal to people to obey traffic rules. After presenting the rose, people will also be quizzed about what they had gained by breaking traffic rules. The talk would be broadcast by the local FM radio station.

Besides, several other programmes would be held during the fortnight to spread awareness among the school children, public transport drivers and other people about safe driving. Lakhs of people, mostly young, die on the roads due to increasing accidents in the country every year.
