GM records 16.2 pc growth in YoY sales
New Delhi, Jan 1: Riding high on the unprecedented launch of three new Chevrolet models, General Motors India clocked 16.2 per cent increase in its vehicle sales at 35,823 units in 2006, in comparison to 30,837 units sold last year.
The company registered 19.4 per cent growth in its sales in December 2006 selling 2,583 units as against 2,163 units during the corresponding period last year.
The December sales included 1,517 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 759 units of Chevrolet Aveo and 307 units of Chevrolet Optra.
''To ensure that we can keep up with long-term demand for our products, we have started expanding the capacity of our existing manufacturing facility in Halol to 85,000 units and have also started construction of a new Greenfield manufacturing plant at Talegaon in Maharashtra,'' company's Vice President P Balendran said.
The new facility, which is scheduled to open in the last quarter of next year, will be double our vehicle manufacturing capacity, added Mr Balendran.
