Fireworks, Masses usher in 2007

Panaji, Jan 1 (UNI) Dazzling fireworks, chiming bells, religious services and parties all over the state ushered in the New Year 2007.

Large crowd of tourists from different states, as well as Goans, rang in the new year in their own way espcially in the coastal areas. While the Catholic community participated in the midnight masses in churches and chapels to welcome the New Year, others indulged in revelry till the wee hours.

Goa was dancing to the beat of music bands at all prominent locations.

A galaxy of VVIPs, politicians, filmstars, industrialists and other celebrities thronged the state to usher in the New Year.

Tourists assembled at several points yesterday for a glimpse of the last sunset of the year 2006.
