Deve Gowda offers prayers at Kashi temples
Varanasi, Jan 1: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda offered prayers at prominent temples here today to mark the beginning of the new year.
The JD(S) leader reached Varanasi by a Jet Airways flight in the afternoon and went to the world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple, which houses one of the 12 'jyotirlingas'.
Later, Mr Gowda offered prayers at the nearby Goddess Annapurna temple, Additional Police Superintendent (Gyanwapi Security) Jugal Kishore Tiwari said.
Sources at the Varanasi Airport terming the visit as 'religious' informed the leader was slated to return to New Delhi by an Indian flight this evening.
