Congress MPs insist on Telangana
Hyderabad, Jan 1 (UNI) Congress MPs S Satyanarayana and Madhu Yashki Goud today opposed the proposal for the formation of the Second States' Reorganisation Commission (SRC) for the formation of Telangana State and reiterated their demand for granting statehood for Telangana by 2009.
Speaking at a function in Medak, Satyanarayana said the Second SRC would open a pandora's box and delay the formation of Telangana. The people of Telangana had trusted the Congress during the 2004 general elections as it had promised the formation of Telanagana state.
The people would lose their confidence in the party, if the state was not formed by 2009, he warned.
Meanwhile, Mr Goud said he stuck to the demand for Telangana and maintained that the people of the region were hopeful that a separate state would be formed soon. He would put forward his opinion in the ensuing PCC session on January four and five.
He, however, said development of the region would be possible only as a separate state.
