Canadian Band Autorichshaw to perform in B'lore
Bangalore, Jan 1: Canadian Funk and Jazz band, ''Autoricshaw'' will join talented bands from Banglore at the Levi's Sundy Jam to be held at the open air amphitheatre Chitrakala Parishath here on January seven.
This performance is made possible with the assistance of the Canadian Government Department of Foreign Affairs, International Cultural Relations Division, and the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi according to a release here today.
Sunday jam was in its second decade having become hugely popular with over 1000 people attending it regularly. These Jams organised by Guruskool , attract both classical and contemporary music and it has become the Mecca for the musicians to reach their audience. For the past one year, many bands from Various parts of the country and also many international bands used this amazing platform to showcase their creativity.
Autorickshaw was a Canadian musical vehicle that blends traditional Indian classical music with jazz and other contemporary forms of music. The band's second album Four Higher was nominated for a 2004 JUNO award for World Music Album of the Year.
Autorickshaw's music lies on the cultural cutting edge, as contemporary jazz and funk easily rub shoulders with the classical music of India. Formed in 2003, autorickshaw has swiftly risen to become one of the most intriguing acts on the world music and jazz landscapes.
