BJP demands AP govt to assign lands to poor

Hyderabad, Jan 1 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Andhra Pradesh President Bandaru Dattatreya today demanded that the state government distribute the assigned lands to the poor, which were in the clutches of influential people.

In a statement here, he said nearly 25 lakh acres of the land was encroached upon in the state and the government had distributed only three lakh acres to the poor people in the state.

He demanded that the government should take permanent measures to meet the flood situation and drought conditions which created problems to the farmers and havoc to crops.

He urged the government not to take back the lands assigned to the poor people earlier in the name of development.

Mr Dattatreya along with the party State General Secretary K Lakshman distributed sewing machines and clothes to the poor in Musheerabad constituency in the city.
