180 history-sheeters held in Basti range

Basti, Jan 1 (UNI) Almost 180 history-sheeters were arrested in this district of Uttar Pradesh during the last fortnight, police said today.

Sub Inspector Brahaspati Mani Tripathi today said in a massive drive against criminals from December 15 to December 31, three wanted miscreants, identified as Banti Singh, Amarnath Pandey and Ram Chet were arrested in Siddharthnagar and Sant Kabirnagar districts under Basti range.

The hardened criminals were carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 each.

Mr Tripathi said 129 others criminals were nabbed against whom several cases of loot and murder were pending. Besides, 48 notorious miscreants have surrendered before local courts.
