Western India Shipyard to launch luxury coaches
New Delhi, Dec 31: In order to fully utilise its capacity, WesternIndia Shipyard Ltd has forayed into rig repairs and ship building atits shipyard at Mormugao, Goa.
Embarking on its main business of repairing coastal and foreigngoing vessels, the company is now going to utilise the facilities ofits dry dock and wet repair berths, machine shops, portal cranes,skilled manpower and other utilities for the new businesses.
The company has won major repair orders for three Jack Up Oil Rigsfor implementation during the period from December 2006 to mid-Februarynext year, notching up revenues up to an extent of eight crore rupees.
The orders are from Mumbai-based Transocean Offshore International Ventures Ltd, one of the large rig operators in India.
It has already carried out major repairs to four Jack Up Oil Rigsnamely, JUR Sagar Jyoti, Aban III, Pride Pennsylvania and Trident-2.
The construction of the 'Jock Up Barge' ship namely, PMC-1, valuedat Rs 18.81 crore, for PMC Projects (India) Pvt Ltd, is proceedingsmoothly and the vessel is expected to be delivered sometime inJanuary/February next year, a company statement said.
