Two UANF militants surrender

Shillong, Dec 31: With the surrender of UALF's 'General Secretary'Bromit A Sangma and his 'area commander' Treson M Sangma yesterday, theUnited A'chik National Liberation Front (UANF) in Meghalaya received asevere blow.

The militants, surrendered before the state's Deputy InspectorGeneral of Police F D Sangma and Tura Superintendent of Police J F KMarak at Tura police station in West Garo Hills district.

The duo deposited two China-made grenades, a high frequency wireless set and several incriminating documents.

The militant outfit, which operates in Dalu and Purakhasia,suffered a major setback after its founding member 'chairman cumcommander-in-chief' was gunned down by Bangladesh's Rapid ActionBattalion in Chittagong Hills Tract in July this year.
