TWO UANF militants surrender

Shillong, Dec 31 (UNI) With the surrender of UANF's 'General Secretary' Bromit A Sangma and his 'area commander' Treson M Sangma, the United A'chik National Front (UANF) in Meghalaya has received a severe blow.

The militants, surrendered yesterday before the state's Deputy Inspector General of Police F D Sangma and Tura Superintendent of Police J F K Marak at Tura police station in West Garo Hills district.

The duo deposited two China-made grenades, a high frequency wireless set and several incriminating documents.

The militant outfit, which operates in Dalu and Purakhasia, suffered a major setback after its founding member 'Chairman cum Commander-in-Chief' was gunned down by Bangladesh's Rapid Action Battalion in Chittagong Hills Tract in July this year.
