Two LeT terrorists planning to carry blasts arrested, 2 IEDs seized
New Delhi, Dec 31 (UNI) Two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists, out to create panic through blasts in the Capital on New Year eve, were arrested from the New Delhi railway station this evening along with two explosive devices.
Jt Commissioner (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said Samiullah (34) and Ali Mohammad (26), of Kashmiri origin and belonging to the LeT, were arrested at about 1730 hrs from the Paharganj side of the New Delhi Railway Station.
''Two Improved Explosive Devices (IEDs) have been recovered from their possession which they planned to plant at the busy Paharganj market, close to the railway station.'' Both had boarded the Andaman Express (Jammu to Chennai) from Jammu and had planned to leave by the same train, after planting the IEDs in the closeby market, as the train had a stopover of about half-an-hour in Delhi, he said.
''We are still interrogating them and searching their belonging and verifying what they have said so far.'' However, we are satisfied that a mishap has been prevented, Mr Singh added.
Meanwhile, part of the station had been cordoned off and seaches were on by the Bomb Disposal Squad to check explosive material or substance.
