Three maoists killed in encounter in AP

Khammam (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 31: Three maoists were killed in anencounter in the forest area near Gundalapadu of Kukkanuru mandal ofthis district today.

Superintendent of Police Rajiv Kumar Meena told UNI that thepolice party, carrying out combing operations in the area spotted themaoists at 1130 hrs.

On seeing the police, the ultras opened fire on the police party.

In the cross-fire, three maoists were killed.

Police recovered three bodies and four weapons, including one 303rifle, one double barrel gun and two spring rifles from the area.

The identity of the maoists and to which group they belonged wasnot yet known, Mr Meena said adding that combing operations werecontinueing in the area.
