Senior journalist dies

Kolkata, Dec 31: Baren Bhatttacharya, a journalist and politicalworker died in a city nursing home last night following prolongedillness.

The 54-year-old business reporter, who was attached with FinancialExpress, was suffering from cancer. He is survived by his wife and adaughter.

Being a district member of CPIM(L) liberation, Mr Bhattacharya had been involved with left movement for a long time.

Initially he had worked with All India Radio and a news magazine, The Fiction.

He had also translated several books from foreign literature.

Fellow scribes and party comrades took his body to the CPIM(L) office and then to his home before performing his last rites.
