Renowned dancer Chandralekha no more

Chennai, Dec 31: Renowned dancer and choreographer Chandralekha passed away due to cancer, early today.

She was 78. The end came peacefully at her famous residence-cum-dance centre by the sea on Elliot's Beach.

She had been undergoing treatment for the last six months for cervical cancer.

She had recovered enough by September to travel to Frankfurt alongwith her production 'Sharira', and be part of the inaugural events ofthe Frankfurt Book Fair on October 3, where India was a guest-of-honourcountry this year. Over the past five weeks her condition deterioratedrapidly.
