Outokumpu forays into India, opens sales office

New Delhi, Dec 31 (UNI) Eyeing the strong market potential for speciality steel products in the country, Finland-based stainless steel producer Outokumpu has opened its sales office here.

The company, with a turnover of five billion Euro, specialises in manufacture of quality stainless steel for infrastructure, chemical, transport, food processing, and construction industries.

''India faces vastly increasing needs for high-alloyed, high-quality stainless steel to support sustainable growth and industrialisation in the country,'' company's Executive Vice President (Commercial Operations) Andrea Gatti said.

We have true answers to both current realities and future challenges in the country, Mr Gatti added.

The New Delhi sales office, Outokumpu India Pvt Ltd will be headed by Y P S Suri, and will bring the full range of company's products and services including technical customer service to the Indian market.

One of the objectives of company's Indian arm is to educate both current and potential stainless steel users about the full potential of stainless steel and how quality stainless steel can enhance the competitiveness of their businesses.

''We believe that India in future will be recognised as a major player in the quality stainless steel arena. We strongly believe that the Indian stainless steel users will appreciate Outokumpu's grades, high quality and reliability to serve them in demanding applications,'' Mr Suri said.

Outokumpu is the world leader in duplex stainless steels, which feature high corrosion resistance combined with very high strength.

Its product range comprises plate, coil and sheet, tubular products, and long products.

With production operations in Finland, Sweden, UK and the US, the company operates globally through sales offices in 28 countries.
