Nalinidhar receives Assam Valley Literary Award

Guwahati, Dec 31: Eminent poet and litterateur NalinidharBhattacharya has been chosen for the prestigious Assam Valley LiteraryAward for 2006.

The Award would be formally present in March next year, a pressrelease said here today. Instituted in 1990, the Award is given away bythe Williamson Magor Trust.

A poet of repute, Mr Bhattacharya is also known for his literaryessays. He has a number of publications to his credit, including fiveanthologies of Assamese poetry and as many collections of his literaryessays.

Besides the Assam Valley Literary Award, Mr Bhattacharya had beenhonoured with other awards previously, including Sahitya Akademi Awardin 2002, Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Award, Soviet Desh Nehru Award andMrinalini Devi Award.
