NALCO receives 'Best Mother Plant Award'

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: The National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO)has bagged the Best Mother Plant award at the Expo Orissa- 2006 herefor its contribution to the development of small scale industries.

NALCO Chairman cum Managing Director(CMD) C R Pradhan received theaward from Orissa Industry Minister B B Harichandan on the concludingday of the national level industrial exhibition here recently.

The exhibition was jointly organized by Small Industries ServiceInstitute, Ministry of Small Scale Industries(SSI) and Department ofIndustries of Orissa Government.

Nalco has already accorded ancillary status to 50 SSI units of theState and has been increasing its share of purchases from these units.

Sources said the company purchases, which were Rs.13.49 crore in2000-01 have increased to Rs.28.25 crore in 2005-06. Transactions willincrease further in coming years due to NALCO's on-going expansionactivities.
