Man held for killing two women after sexual assault

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 31: Tiruchirapalli Rural Police arrested a37-year-old man on the charges of murdering two unmarried girls, aftersexually assaulting them at Valavanthankottai area, on the outskirts ofthe city here.

Police said the accused Natarajan, working as a mason, wasarrested after he confessed that he had murdered a girl, to the villageAdministrative Office (VAO) of Valavanthankottai.

During interrogation, he confessed that he had an affair with oneParvathi (21), a construction labourer. The girl, who became pregnantasked Natarajan to marry her and reportedly threatened to expose him ifhe did not marry her.

Enraged over this, Natarajan took her to a nearly lake recentlyand sexually assaulted her and strangulated her to death. He buried thebody near the lake bund.

The body was exhumed today in the presence of Revenue officials and a post-mortem was conducted.

The police continued their interrogation and stumbled upon thefact that he had also murdered another girl in a similar mannerrecently and buried the body in a farm near the lake. The deceased wasidentified as Vijaya (24) of the same area.

Natarajan showed the police the spot where he buried the body ofVijaya. Later, the police exhumed the highly-decomposed body andconducted a postmortem on the spot with government doctors.

The police have intensified the interrogation to find out whether he had committed more murders of similar nature.
