Kanker encounter: Cong demands white paper
Raipur, Dec 31 (UNI) Chhattisgarh's senior Congress MLAs today demanded the issuance of a white paper, by the Bharatiya Janata Party government, on this year's naxal encounters in the wake of two tribal youth being slain in Kanker district after allegedly being labelled as rebels.
Former Home minister Nandkumar Patel, Ravindra Choubey and Dharamjit Singh were among more than a dozen legislators who issued a joint statement here condemning the killing and announced their full support to a related agitation launched by villagers.
They demanded action against police officers who took credit for the encounter. The MLAs said that an attempt to blame neighbouring Maharashtra's police was a ploy to cover up the incident.
