JMM to observe Jan 2 as black day in Orissa

Baripada, Dec 31: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will observeJanuary 2 as ''black day'' in Orissa to protest the Naveen Patnaikgovernment's alleged anti-poor and anti-tribal policies.

JMM, Orissa unit, president Sudam Marandi said the ''Black Day''will be observed to protest the brutal killing of 13 tribals in policefiring at Kalinga Nagar.

Talking to mediapersons Mr Marandi, who represent Mayurbhanj LokSabha seat, said the Morcha would hold protest rallies and dharnas infront of block and district headquarters to assert the Adivasis'irrevocable rights over ''Jal, Jangal, and Jammen'' (water, forest andland).

He said a big group of JMM activists from its support bases inMayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, andJajpur districts would join the rally scheduled to be held atVeer-Vhumi at Kalinga Nagar on January 2.
