BJP announces agitational programmes for UP polls
Lucknow, Dec 31 (UNI) Encouraged by its successful rally here on December 24, the Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP today announced three-month-long, four phased, agitational programmes in the state to lead the party in the coming Assembly polls.
State Party president Keshri Nath Tripathi, in presence of Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Lalji Tandon, announced that the first agitation would be launched from January 5 to 13 at tehsil level to protest the non-availability of fertilizers, irrigational facilities, low sugarcane prices, inflation, police harassment and 'dismal' law and order. During the protest, BJP workers will also court arrest.
In the second phase, from January 16 to 31, party workers will launch 'padyatra' or cycle yatra to visit villages and each door of the state to make direct contract with the voters and will distribute party folders to the electorates.
Mr Tripathi said that in the important third phase starting from Februrary 1 to 15, the state party leaders will take out 'Parivartan Yatra' from six places in the state which will be led by Central and state BJP leaders in six groups.
While in the last and final phase before the assembly polls, from February 16 to March 10, worker's meetings would be organised in all the 403 assembly constituencies.
Besides, the state BJP president said a big Kisan rally would be held on January 28 at Mohoba in Bundelkhand to highlight the plight of farmers, including their suicides, and another similar rally at Gorakhpur on February 21 to highlight the starvation deaths in East UP, minority appeasement move by the Centre and state government and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
