ANU trounces Anna Varsity

Vijayawada, Dec 31 (UNI) Last year's runners-up Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) defeated Anna University in the final league phase of the All India-Varsity Ball Badminton Men's Tournament played at Guntur today.

University of Madras, who won the tournament last year, came second by trouncing Bangalore University in another match.

For ANU, P Srinvas Rao played well to crush the opponents 29-12, 29-11.

In the other match, University of Madras outplayed Bangalore University.

At one stage, both the teams were equally poised and the battle for supremacy ended with University of Madras winning the match 29-26, 29-23.

G Raja Mahender and P Karthikeyan of University of Madras played well to get an edge over Bangalore University The third place went to Anna University and fourth to Bangalore University in the tourney.
