Wild elephant tramples a person

Belgaum, Dec 30 (UNI) In a second tussle between the man in the beast in less than a week a man was trampled to death by a herd of elephants near Sankeshwar, 50 km from here yesterday.

On December 25 one person was killed in a field near the town by a group of elephants that had wandered into an agricultural field.

Police said yesterday 30-year-old Bhimappa Baby Kadalage of Nool village was mowed down by the elephants which had strayed away from the forests and other person was injured. The injured M M Basappa had been admitted to a hospital Gadinglaj in Maharashtra and his condition was said to be critical.

On December 25 so the wild elephants had entered the field near Sankeshwar and Mr Babu Lakshman Mirji (46) was killed. He had entered the field with others to have a look at elephants.
