Trinamool Supremo takes semi-solid food

Kolkata, Dec 30 (UNI) Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee recovering in a city nursing home after a 25-day fast was given semi-solid food today, one doctor from the seven member medical board attending on her said.

''Ms Banerjee's response to our treatment is good. She is still weak and will take some time to recover completely,''he said.

Her blood pressure which had gone down to an alarming level had also improved.

The doctors said Ms Banerjee had been on oral and intravenous fluid since she was admitted to the nursing home early yesterday after she ended her hunger strike.

The Trinamool supremo called off her strike against the land acquisition at Singur following requests from President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
