Tricolour hoisted in Andaman on historic day
Port Blair, Dec 30 (UNI) Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh today hoisted the national tricolour here to commemorate this day on which Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose declared these islands Indian territory by hoisting the flag.
However, in an apparent faux pas the tricolour was hoisted upside down, officials said.
This day in 1943 Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had hoisted the National Flag of India for the first time at Port Blair declaring the islands, the first Indian territory, to be free from British imperalism.
