Steps on for supply of subsidised cattle fodder: Minister
Puducherry, Dec 30: The Puducherry administration is taking steps for the supply of cattle fodder at a subsidy of Rs two a kg for the benefit of milk producers here, Agriculture Minister V Vathilingam said here today.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Vaithilingam said 75 per cent of cattle fodder and 50 per cent of fodder for milch animals could not be supplied during the current year due to administrative reasons.
The subsidised fodder would be supplied to Puducherry Agro Service and Industries Corporation (PASIC) which had opened 16 new deopts here and seven in Karaikal for the purpose.
Four to five varieties of fodder manufactured by established companies would be offered for sale in the depots.
The Minister said all milk producers who were not members of the Puducherry Milk Producers Union could purcahse the fodder and avail the benifit.
About 1,500 tonne of fodder was proposed to be supplied at a subsidy of Rs 30 lakh.
To a question, he said the administration had urged the Centre to fix the minimum price for milk here.
