Security tightened in TN

Chennai, Dec 30 (UNI) Security measures have been further strengthened in Tamil Nadu to prevent any untoward incident in the wake of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's execution this morning.

Police sources said security had been doubled in and around all consulates in the city especially the American Consulate.

Security was also tightened at all important places of worship in Tamil Nadu.

Adequate security arrangement have been made at all important railway stations, bus terminals, shoping malls and crowded places.

Vehicle checks have been intensified and patrolling were undertaken in vulnerable areas.

Meanwhile, seven members of the All India Students Federation were taken into custody by the police when they attempted to defy the prohibitory orders and tried to picket the American Consulate here.
