Saddams execution: JD(U) fears fillip to terrorism
New Delhi, Dec 30 (UNI) The Janata Dal (United) today expressed apprehension that the execution of toppled Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein would give a "fillip" to forces of terrorism and militancy across the world.
JD(U) President Sharad Yadav said in a statement here that the execution, after a ''farcical trial orchestrated by the United States,'' was a big blow to international peace, democracy and justice.
''The execution will increase the tension and disturb peace in West Asia. This kind of unjust action will weaken the fight against international terrorism,'' he said, while calling upon all those who believed in justice and fair play to stand against the ''undemocratic and short-sighted action.'' Mr Yadav alleged that the quest of the US for domination of the world was undermining all international norms. ''It went to Iraq in the name of taking control of non-existent WMDs. With no WMDs in sight, they started dubious restoration of democracy in Iraq. Having failed in that and losing their own men in civil war daily, now they have resorted to this condemnable action.'' ''It is clear that Iraq has been a huge mistake by the US and those who allied with them,'' he said.
