No New year gifts, please: AP CM

Hyderabad, Dec 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today appealed to people from all walks of life to avoid gifts and ostentations while extending New Year wishes to him.

Urging the people that the money likely to be spent on such extravaganza may kindly be remitted to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for public welfare, Dr Reddy said "we have a long way to go in serving the poor and downtrodden providing better living conditions in villages and towns." "We cannot just forget our suffering countrymen who are struggling to make both ends meet and indulge in unnecessary expenditure. Let us be of some help to them", an official release said.
