Modi for computerisation of Gram Panchayats
Surat, Dec 30 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today reiterated his government's commitment to computerisation of all the 13,682 Gram Panchayats in the state to make them 'E-Gram Panchayats'.
Mr Modi was addressing a programme organised to felicitate the newly-elected Sarpanchs of 2,166 Gram Panchayats from four districts of south Gujarat, at Kamrej here.
He stressed the need of getting the support of information and communication technologies for the overall development of villages and said the government will make available 24-hour three phase electricity supply for the purpose.
He also suggested that villages must use the benefits of modern technology in local level governance.
The best Gram Panchayats will be awarded by the government in future, Mr Modi said.
