Maintain status quo on possession of MDMK headquarters: HC
Chennai, Dec 30 (UNI) The Madras High Court today ordered maintenance of status quo with regard to possession of MDMK headquarters 'Thayagam,' which was presently in the control of party General Secretary Vaiko.
Mr Justice P Jyothimani ordered maintenance of status quo on a suit filed by Mr Vaiko seeking to restrain rebel leaders L Ganesan and Gingee N Ramachandran, who were suspended from their respective party posts of Presidium Chairman and Deputy General Secretary for anti-party activities, from interfering with his possession, administration and control of the MDMK headquarters.
The judge also ordered notice to Mr Ganesan and Mr Ramachandran, while recording a submission made by Mr M Sekhar, counsel for the rebel leaders, that they had no intention to enter the office.
Later, the judge posted the matter to January 12.
In his petition, Mr Vaiko submitted that the duo had the support of the ruling DMK and had held open discussions with DMK leaders.
They had also given interviews that they would use their influence with the political party in power and try to forcibly enter the headquarters of the MDMK, he said.
Mr Vaiko said the duo and their men were planning to create violence in the headquarters by forcibly entering the premises and removing valuable records.
They had also given interviews that even if any complaint was given to the police, they would be able to achieve anything they wanted with the support of the ruling party, he added.
