Left condemns Saddam's execution, to hold demos
Chennai, Dec 30: The Left parties in Tamil Nadu today condemned the execution of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and organised a state-wide protest demonstration to condemn it.
In a statement here, CPI State Secretary D Pandian said India, which always favoured a war-free world and believed in peace, should strongly register its condemnation.
Saddam's execution was against the sentiments of the people in the world, he said.
In the city, the demonstration would be held before the Memorial Hall today.
CPI(M) State Secretary N Varadharajan, in his statement, said all those who believed in democracy would condemn the execution.
His party will hold a demonstration in more than 200 places across the state and appealed to all those 'opposing American imperialism' to participate.
