Gurmohit, Harry win against Russians

Chandigarh, Dec 30 (UNI) Gurmohit Singh Janjua and Harry Singh Amor, both from Chandigarh, toiled to win in the qualifying boys singles matches in the ITF Junior Tennis (Group 3) Tournament at the CLTA Stadium here today.

After losing the first set Gurmohit rallied to beat Artur Khayretdinov of Russia 1-6, 6-4, 6-1. Harry prevailed over Russian Maxim Prosolov. Harry won the first set at 6-4. Prosolov made it one-all after winning the second set in tie-breaker at 7-6 (3).

Harry was in total control in the decider as he raced to 6-0 win and keep his hopes alive for the main draw.

Another Russia Rasim Magafurov was a sitting duck for Deepinder Singh Bains who won the game without dropping even a single game 6-0, 6-0.

In another qualifying round, Siddharth Singh beat Akshay Ahuja in an all-India encounter. Singh finally won 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. The match between Indians Aravind Vishnu and Vidhan Vyas was also extended to three sets before the former won by 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
