Congress cadres exhorted to rejuvenate party

Itanagar, Dec 30 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Omem Moyong Deori has called upon his party members to follow the footprints of the great Congress leaders whose supreme sacrifices helped India to gain independence.

Addressing the 121st foundation day of Congress at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here on Thursday, she said that the idols of those leaders, particularly the Nehru-Gandhi family members, are worth emulating.

The party ideologies and discipline had brought peace, tranquility and harmony in the Indian society besides heralding an era of prosperity, she said and exhorted that the party cadres to rejuvenate the party to benefit the masses.

Earlier, APCC General Secretary T.C.Tok highlighted the aim of the celebration while APCC vice-president Padi Hinda administered a pledge to APCC, APMC, APCSD and various frontal wing leaders to uphold and promote peace, social harmony and understanding among fellow citizens and fight all forces threatening human values, peace and prosperity of the nation.

Host of party leaders, including Water Resources Minister Tako Dabi, advisor to Chief Minister Takam Sanjoy, Ethic cell chairman Kardu Taipodia, Trade&Commerce cell Chairman T.C.Teli spoke on the occasion.

Later, APCC president took part in a tree plantation programme in the office premises to mark the 60th birthday of AICC president Sonia Gandhi, according to a party release.
