Chatterjee urges parliamentarians to maintain discipline
Barrackpore, Dec 30 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today expressed dissatisfaction over the attitude of a section of parliamentarians that often disturbs the proceedings of the house.
He said this while inaugurating the sixth Convocation of a private training institute at Baranagar in North 24 Parganas.
He added that such members needed training for their behavioural attitude so that they could take part in the proceedings.
Mr Chatterjee said he sometimes felt frustrated as a presiding officer to see the uncongenial behaviour of a few members in the House and admitted that he failed to convince them to maintain order in the house.
Spending at least 37 years in Parliament, the veteran Marxist leader observed that the MPs needed a prior training regarding their role and behavioural aspects.
''It is better if professional institutes come forward with such project for training the legislators,'' the Speaker added.
Lok Sabha members Amitabha Nandy and Tarit Topdar were among others who spoke on the occasion.
