Cell for effective implementation of the Pre-Natal test

Bangalore, Dec 30 (UNI) Karnataka Government proposes to set up Special Cell to ensure effective implementation of Pre-Natal Determination Test Act, Minister for Health R Ashok said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that modalities were being worked out for monitoring the increased female foeticide mainly from the Ultra Sound Scanning Centres in the State.

He said that there were more than 2000 such centres in the State and there was no effective way for stopping them from conducting the sex determination tests and as a result to some extent the state had not achieved success in its implementation of the Act.

Mr Ashok said that the Cell would comprise of members drawn from the Departments of Health, Women and Child Development, Law and NGOs connected with women.
