Several restrictions for smooth traffic flow on new year eve

New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) The Delhi Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements for smooth flow and regulation of traffic on New Year eve, specially city centre Connaught Place, and imposed certain restrictions for efficient traffic management.

The restriction, which would come into effect at 1930 hrs, would remain till the conclusion of New Year Celebrations.

While no vehicle shall be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place beyond Mandi House, Bengali Market, North foot of Ranjit Singh Flyover, Minto Road - Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg crossing, Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi Rly. Station), R A Ashram Marg crossing, Gole Market, G.P.O, Patel Chowk, Kasturba Gandhi Road - Ferozshah Road Crossing, Ashok Road near 16, Ashoka Road and Windsor Place, no vehicular traffic shall be allowed to move in inner, middle or outer circle of Connaught Place.

Tolstoy Marg would be made one way from Sansad Marg towards Barakhamba Road and no traffic shall be allowed from Barakhamba Road, K.G. Marg and Janpath to take right turn towards Connaught Place.

Limited parking spaces have been reserved near Connaught Place on a 'first serve' basis including at near Gole Dak Khana on Kali Bari Marg, Pt. Pant Marg (excluding Gole Dakkhana roundabout), near Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road behind AIR and Metro Station on Ashoka Road near Patel Chowk among others.

Bonafide residents of the area/passengers bound for New Delhi Railway Station would be permitted to enter the 'restricted area' after due verification.

Traffic Police personnel have also been posted at all main intersections to regulate traffic and check the traffic violation and barricades put to check the speeding vehicles.

Police has advised motorists to observe traffic laws and rules and obey directions of the Traffic Police and not drive after drinking while keeping their speed within the 50 kmph limit.

Motorists have also been advised to not park their vehicles on the main roads causing obstructions to free flow of traffic.
