Separate Telangana only after reaching consensus: Jana Reddy

Hyderabad, Dec 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today said a separate Telangana would be formed only after reaching a consensus among all parties.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Reddy said the Congress party held the same view of senior Congress leaders on the formation of Telangana.

The Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC) was also holding talks to find out a solution to carve out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh, he added.

Defending the police action on CPI(M) activists during an agitation to occupy government lands at Visakhapatnam yesterday, the minister said police had to resort to lathicharge on them to maintain law and order.

Referring to State Home Minister's conference on 'police reforms' beginning in New Delhi tomorrow, Mr Reddy said the state government was committed to implementing the police reforms.
