Kolkata, Dec 29 (UNI) Noted Najrul Sangeet exponent Dhiren Basu died at a hospital here last night, family sources today said.

He was 76 and is survived by his wife and a daughter.

The singer was admitted to the private hospital in South Kolkata on Wednesday after being suffered a massive heart attack. His end came at 2330 hours last night.

The singer was one of the most popular Najrul Sangeet exponents among the veterans in Bengal and had performed a programme on Sunday last. He also sang Rabindra Sangeet.

His body will be kept at Rabindra Sadan for public viewing before cremation later today.
