Record collection at Panchalinga Darshana
Mysore, Dec 29 (UNI) The millennium's first Panchalinga Darshana at Talakkad has proved to be a huge hit, with a record collection of Rs 19,76,239 through hundis.
The hundis, opened in the presence of Tahsildar Mallige Shankar, were counted by students of Government schools for the first time.
The hundis at Sri Vaidyanatheswara, the principal deity of Talakkad, alone accounted for Rs 13,15,858.
More than ten lakh devotees from various parts of the country visited Talakkad for Panchalinga Darshana, which began on November 20 and ended only a few days ago. The ceremony was held after a gap of 13 years in the tiny village of Talakkad, buried under vast stretches of sand dunes.
